He said the key is worn and the pins it uses to open the gascap are why its not working but the reason it works for the ignition is because it uses more length of the key? My current key works 100% for the ignition and is really iffy with the gas. Key codes are made up of either all numbers (numeric) or letters and numbers (alphanumeric) and are usually between 2 and 8 digits. The key code will determine which key blank is needed and the cut of the key. Under the gas tank lock is a 4 digit code and under the ignition is stamped a different 6 digit code.
